Overview
The annotated bibliography is one of the assignments which make up the major Research Project in ENG 104 . A bibliography is a list of sources--the books, articles, lectures, e-mails, television programs, Web pages, discussion-group postings, or other information sources you will be using to provide ideas as you prepare your research essay. Your bibliography consists of an alphabetized list of source entries in correct MLA documentation format. Additionally, each of your entries must be "annotated." That is, underneath each entry must be a short note briefly stating what the source contains and how it will be useful for your research essays.
The Assignment
Prepare an annotated list of all of the sources you believe at this time you will be quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, or taking ideas from when you write your research essays. Note: Twelve or more sources is the official standard of the Kirtland English Department for the 2,000-word documented essayin ENG-104.
Your annotated bibliography will consist of two elements:
A Works Cited entry for each information source in correct MLA format.
A short note under each entry summarizing the contents of the source and how it will be useful to you.
For the correct MLA format for each of your source entries, see The Macmillan Writer, and Writing .
Send your completed Annotated Bibliography to the instructor.
Note: Your annotated bibliography will become the basis for the Works Cited pages in your research essays.
